Sectoral Program of Science and Innovation
The first Scientific Research Program approved in Cuba to investigate and innovate in the field of Social Communication is now a reality. It will be led by the Institute of Information and Social Communication (ICS) and managed by its Branch School.
The Call, launched just one year after the enactment of Law 162/2023 "On Social Communication," reflects the dedication of a collective of Social Communication professionals committed to the country's development by providing a scientific tool for national participation.
The Program aligns its objectives and specific lines with the strategic areas of the nation's economic and social development (PCC Guidelines), the priority areas defined in the Science, Technology, and Innovation strategies, and the assessment of the current state of research and installed intellectual capacities.
The general objective is to guide Research, Development, and Innovation projects that, with a dialectical approach, support solution proposals to the challenges posed by social communication processes that cut across the country's economic, political, and cultural activities, across the various spheres, levels, and spaces in which they occur, through a systemic, integrated, and strategic management that consolidates Social Communication as a pillar of government management.
The aim is to articulate science and innovation with Social Communication in service of government management, ensuring that decision-making and its mission become more effective processes. Therefore, the Program invites the submission of Projects in accordance with the System of Science, Technology, and Innovation Programs and Projects established by CITMA.
Research and Innovation Projects may be submitted by a wide range of institutional actors, including media outlets, organizations and entities related to social communication, research and study centers, universities from across the country, among others.
Here we provide the official Call and the guiding documents of the Program.
